No
question, with the HTC Touch Diamond, HTC released a winner smartphone and it
looks like that HTC's recently announced and now accros Europe and Asia
available smartphone also caught the interest from many mobile network
operators. For instance it's confirmed that all major carriers in the UK and
Germany will carry the HTC Touch Diamond, either in HTC's original design and
configuration or with a different hardware design and adopted
TouchFLO 3D
color-sets. And while most of you might prefer the original black TouchFLO 3D
user interface as well, most carriers have changed the TouchFLO 3D design to its
corporate color and might even changed or reordered some TouchFLO 3D tabs.
While TouchFLO 3D is part of the Windows Mobile ROM built for the HTC Touch
Diamond, some clever developers extracted it now from the latest available ROM
and built a cab file which you can simply install on your ODM Diamond to change
back, from the carrier design to HTC's original black TouchFLO 3D design.
On the left O2 Germany's TouchFLO 3D design and on the right, HTC's TouchFLO 3D
design on the same device, an O2 Xda diamond:
As you can see in the demonstration above, the user interface language stays
the same but the TouchFLO 3D installation changed the preselected weather cities
as well as cleaned the programs list. However, the Web bookmarks staid the same.
Since it's a cab file installation only, you will not lose your warranty
because the change gets lost after a hard reset. Nevertheless, you cannot
rollback to the original carrier design by simply uninstalling the cab file but
you have to hard reset your ODM Diamond to get back to the factory settings.
Furthermore, since it's a cab file installation, it installs into your memory
and the installation takes around 19 MB since the file contains all the required
graphics as well.
Please note, this cab file is designed for the HTC Touch Diamond and
comparable carrier devices only. Don't use it on any other Windows Mobile
Professional or Standard devices.
Boah... This O2 blue is ugly!!! Happy I got the HTC version here only!

Arne,
do you have any information when the Diamond will be available via German vodafone and under which name ?
Thanks in advance

@Nightflyer: AFAIK it should be available within this month and Vodafone UK lists it as a coming soon device already. There it's called "HTC Touch Diamond" but it sports a Vodafone co-branding in addition.
